Floating Pool Cleaner Customer Care and Troubleshooting

CUSTOMER CARE

Do not carry your Dragonfly™ by the hose. A split or damaged hose can affect the performance of your Dragonfly™.

When storing your Dragonfly™ out of the water, do not store in direct sunlight or in very hot conditions.

Ensure that you maintain all filter systems including any leaf basket or in-line canisters, as these are all factors that can affect the performance of your Dragonfly™.

Your Dragonfly™ may be left to float free in the pool; however, in some cases it may be advantageous to bring the currents of your pool under control by redirecting the eyeball jets and tethering your Dragonfly™ in the place where wind and currents take the majority of floating debris.

Troubleshooting Guidelines

If your Dragonfly™ is floating in the water and doesn’t seem to be operating correctly, follow the guidelines listed below:

Side Valve Stays Open
  1. Ensure that there is no obstruction to your Dragonfly™ or broken hoses or filtration issues.
  2. The side valve must be in good condition and move freely. There should be no water leakage into the side valve.
  3. Loosen the bolt, using a ½” (13mm) wrench, and raise one or more of the floats a little at a time (this causes more water to pass over the weirs) until the side valve starts to open and close.
  4. Tighten the bolt.
  5. In the event you cannot get enough adjustment to get the side valve operating correctly, you will need a bypass/diverter valve fitted over the vacuum plate of your pool.
Side Valve Stays Closed
  1. Ensure that there is no obstruction to your Dragonfly™ or broken hoses or filtration issues.
  2. The side valve must be in good condition and move freely. There should be no water leakage into the side valve.
  3. Loosen the bolt, using a ½” (13mm) wrench, and lower one or more of the floats a little at a time (this will cause less water to pass over the weirs until the side valve starts to open and close.)
  4. Tighten the bolt.
  5. In the event you cannot get enough adjustment to get the side valve operating correctly, have your filtration system examined. There may be too much suction to maintain filtration. Open the bypass/diverter valve to relieve some of the suction.
Dragonfly™ Is Held In Place – Not Floating Freely
  1. Ensure that the hose is long enough and not kinked to allow it to move up and down along with your Dragonfly™ with minimum interference.
  2. All Floats must be full of water and floating evenly.
Floating Debris Is Caught Against The Hose

Weights that submerge the hose are available from most pool supply companies and/or your pool service provider.

Air Has Entered The Floats, Resulting In The Weir Being Too High To Function Properly
  1. Invert your Dragonfly™ under water to release any air that may have become trapped in the floats.
  2. While keeping it submerged, carefully turn your Dragonfly™ right side up.
Air Bubbles Accumulating In The Filter

Do not tether your Dragonfly™ over air jets, as air bubbles may go into your DragonflyTM. This may result in an accumulation of air in the filtration system which can lead to a loss of suction/prime.

Additional Information

df-lineartYour Dragonfly™ is an excellent indicator of when your filtration system or other equipment needs attention. Example: Algae or dirt build up in your filter will eventually slow or stop the Dragonfly™ pulsating. The filtration system will require back washing or cleaning. Other causes may be a split or blocked hose.

It is rare that your Dragonfly™ floats need to be readjusted. If a float has not been correctly fastened or the pump has been renewed, one or more of the floats may need to be adjusted.

In the interest of safety, before swimming always remove the Dragonfly™ from your pool.
